Actually you can get good results yourself at home if you know what to do with not much trouble as what this guy is going through.

I did my corolla wagon (didn't want to experiment with Lillee :P ) with Mothers 3 step. I used to do it by hand but it's too big of a car and I get tired, so I bought myself a rotary buffer and now it turns out like that Astra (Like, not the same as he's goe a tad bit far!!). The real reason why I do it is to protect the paint as I want to keep this rolla for 10+yrs.

Results on Lillee are just as good.

The darker the car the better the results.

But I agree, it's a bloody Astra! Geez!

Those clay bars do exactly as britishvita says - and they really work. I have done my car after I have just washed it thinking it was clean and I run that clay bar over it and I am amazed at how much dirt it pulls off that is stuck into the paint. Makes the paint even feel smoother afterwards.

It really works - money well spent. But geez - I don't put any where near that time into my car and I still think it looks ok. That article isn't going to change what I already do.

I have a Black PT Cruiser which generally sits outside under a massive gum tree. Bad for the paint in general. Today I decided it was time to clean it. So i grabbed a clay bar meguirs thingy and after washing the car used it. Not had to do at all and the results are pretty good. So much crap comes off which is great in my case. We then applied a quick wax, which is essentially crap so I rewaxed it with the Fancy tech wax stuff from mequires. Car although has scratches and chips in the paint now looks great. The scratches are by far and away much less noticalble. Well happy with the clay bar though. Cleans the paint quite well. I am going to look after the old Cruiser now, poor old (slow) dear wants to be loved

Cheers
Aaron

I hate to think how much it cost this bloke to get his car clean.. and in the UK  . I could understand if it was a Zonda or a Lambo that does not get out much.

Hmm Paul looks familur...he must have been on top Gear or something

each to his own... he probably looks at a mini and says "wow, that's cool, but I wouldn't spend $$$$ on it like they do". I look at new cars and shake my head at the horrid looking paint jobs, so much orange peel under the clear. I'm very impressed with what he got out of that, very impressed indeed.... but my cooper is lucky to get a wash twice a year...

Shut your pie hole.

His car, he can do what he wants.

I'm sure you'd be equally pissed off if people started saying this stuff about your Mini.

"Why would you spend so much on a Mini with a sunroof?"

edit: pissed off.
don't take it to heart.

love u long time

as in it IS a dime a dozen. a mini may have been once but now its not. therefore a classic warrants special attention but A NEW CAR DOES NOT

well an astra turbo is pretty expensive, if you spend that much you might aswell look after it.

I got the impression ... promoting zymol car detailling products was his line of work ... he was just demonstrating what could be achieved ... still he got way too excited about the waxing stage
