Hi,
I was hoping that someone may be able to help identify a mini that I have purchased. I have been told that it may have been an automatic?
It has no id plates on it and the only numbers are stamped on the firewall near the master cylinders "1522". There is no numbers stamped on the radiator panel either. It came with hydrolastic suspension and an 1100 engine. It also has had the 850 style gearshift hole welded up
( reasonable job done ) with a later remote fitted, and it doesn't have the small raised sections for the wiper base to sit on ( they are just flat).
Thanks for any ideas
Brian

No ID plates makes it a bit difficult , any dates on the wiper motor , voltage regulator or boot latch to help with ? Date is also on the starter motor and generaotr but with a different motor anythings possible , wiper motor doesn't get changed much . Does the front stone tray sweeep up at the sides or go along constant and then curve up to the end ? That's a bit hard to describe but does it go \________/ or '-,______,-' (I know , it's rough but hopefully you'll get the idea) . The magic wand holes been covered but what about the current gearshift hole , roughly cut or looking factory cut ? The number stamped behind the master cylinders and there being a hole for a magic wand suggests 850 but not with hydro if that was original . We are talking a 40 year old car but who knows what's been done to it in that time , the front valance will help narrow down the age a little more though . Just as a random thing though , does it have two tiny drain holes drilled in the front of the roof gutter or a half moon shaped bit cut out ?

1) With the wiper panel that shape it is early 68 or earlier.

2) Hydro suggests Auto, Deluxe or S, all post 65.

3) If the remote has been fitted later it would suggest Auto.

Best guess is 66 (autos released that year?) to 68 mini matic.

is the floorpan original? dores it have pressing for hydro lines?

Is there a number on the radiator support panel? Under the paint perhaps? Should have been one there originally.

Do you have the ignition switch/ indicator switch, etc to look at for dates?

Pics?

Cheers
Matt

Sounds like a Mk1 `matic to me, note the low build number. Not many made, Mk1 or `Mk2'.
Mine is a Mk2 matic, 3/70 and it's only #13**.

Thanks for all the info- I will check wiper motor etc. The Hydro lines look genuine. Have no site for photos yet- only one is on my profile.
Thanks Again.

I checked the wiper motor but it's a 73, so no help. (Still looking for the boot handle) There was a number on the radiator panel under all the paint " 1902" which is not the same as the one on the firewall.
I pulled out the fuel tank and it appears the original colour was a terrible khaki green- The army never had mini's did they??
Thanks again for all the info.
Cheers
Brian
