if your talking about sliding window doors, it clicks over a rivet type stud fixed to the door. delux type,clubman type (wind ups) are a press fit. no studs involved

im pretty sure you just have to press it on really hard untill you hear it lock onto the door frame. i hear its a PITA to get the trims off

Pulled mine off just the other day.
Bent them like crazy, and stripped half the paint off the door.

I don't care though, I don't like the chrome round there. :D
