:? You'd probably want to register it in Germany, seems that is where the Nürburgring Nordschleife is. (http://www.nuerburgring.de/home/index.html?L=1)

I'm sure he already knew that, along with the fact that it's Europe, not a long drive.

Don't be fooled - there are some long drives to be had in Europe... but true, that isn't one of them. 1.5 hours and you're in the Netherlands. (I still miss living in Munich  ).

Sounds pretty right to me,,, a big donk = lots of grunt ,,, & once you add the drop gears & gearbox & diff & wheels & road & etc, then the figure will drop to a more reasonable/understandable level which won`t surprise anyone,,,

Don`t get me wrong when i say all that, i`m just saying that the figure is pretty right given the build of it & the guy behind the cyl head grinding tool etc

I`d be saying something completely different if you`d said you only had 100hp & 80lbs "without" drop gears, gearbox-diff-axles-wheels-road resistance-etc

There`s a big difference between an empty driveline & a complete package at the road wheels ,,,, & of course there is also the fact that it`s a stroker :-) & everyone knows that strokers rule

good to here tho Mick, & well done to GR, he rang me the other day wanting to hook up at Morgan Pk race this weekend,,,, I`ll play a trick on him & tell him that you`re not real happy with it & posted on Ausmini saying how poor his work is :-)

I`m naughty aren`t i ??? :-) :-) :-)

Matt you are too cruel. He won't believe you :P .

Yeah i know this is definitely crank hp and not atw. Expecting it to drop to around 70-80 ish atw depending on how tight things are, and the weather on the day. I just tried to make the point that it is not all about bling parts (you know how tight mini owners are) and high revs (compare this to a 1480 sprite motor i know of that produced similar power but needed much higher revs to get it -8500rpm). if its built well with the right design behind it, it works!

Kev the dizzy stays where it is until i get a new module for the pulsar one, and then goes on chassis dyno to set it up. Marks already on flywheel will be calibrated to the setting of the points dizzy currently in there once its in the car and running. Pulley marks will also be calibrated.

cheers
michael

Damo, Ben, i will be living in Hengelo which is 10 minutes from the border directly east of Amsterdam and it will be about 3-4 hours drive from there to Nurburgring considering i will most likely get lost first time. And i may register it in germany because it is heaps cheaper apparently.

Wow! :D
Sounds a lot like what my motor is going to be made up of. Now I can't wait to get it bolted up and on the dyno then in the car. I think you are in for a lot of fun.
Do you need firewall mods with that length manifold?, can you fit a longer one without the need for mods?
Does it make you wonder how much more you could get out of it with some finer tuning??

no firewall mods required. manifold is same length as the redline 3005, but Graham reckons it is better internally straight out of the box.

no i don't wonder. i'll just learn to drive it on the track with that and worry about it later....

cheers

These manifolds don't show up on the <lynx> site anymore, I think you will only find them S/H now.
Redline 12-3005 ones are still available from http://www.redlineauto.com.au/ they flow well (~200CFM) once you port them severely.

mick one quesytion before i give you my specs, how did you get away with timing in the cam shaft on dot to dot type timing that cam sahft would be anywhere from 1deg (107.5 up to 112deg std) when the cam requires atleast 106deg timing.from GR i think it was about 104 it needed to be timied in at.

yeah i must admit i dont have all the bling parts in mine as it was all built out of 2nd hand parts i had laying around except for the block which is 1360 and even the pistons were old race pistons where the tops had got soft on them.cranks down to 30 thou under and even 2nd hand clutch plate.
standard dizzy (as you can see the blip in the curve when it comes on full mechanical advance) just luminition module installed.
standard gearbox even with close ratio gears fitted 2nd grear syncro hub is rooted 3.6diff with 4 pin under that.

The only reason the standard duplex timing gear was used was because it was just about brand new, and i could spend the money on other things. To be honest Jai, Graham and i really did do just that. Lined the dots up and slid the sprockets on to the shafts. Graham checked the maximum lift at one stage, which was 398thou on the no 1 inlet. Graham knew what the timing gear would be, what the rockers would be etc, so i assumed he had simply ground the cam to suit. I think i can "get away" with it because the engine was never built to be a maximum power thing, but more a big power with reliability and budget thrown in. I suppose it gives me somewhere to go in the future when i learn how to drive a car with that amount of power. Once i am at the stage of looking for every last 10th on the track, i'll look at the bigger rockers and adjustable cam timing to see what we can really wring out of it. Graham knows more about the cam and its timing requirements than me, so i would defer to him. Seeing you have a good relationship with him, i'm sure that if you ask him we'll both find out the answer.

cheers
michael

brakes are 7.5" cooper s discs, no booster

yeah i spoke to Graham yesterday and basically the only difference in Willys is the 1.5:1 rockers. so now no-one has to wonder what difference the rockers make! Good results consistently from a great engine builder.

cheers
