Price update ....

I stated that I paid $50 for the kit from The Mini King, but, that was included with some other stuff I got from John and was so cheap because John owed me on some other parts I got from him...so I'm sorry if I gave anyone a bum steer, (and nearly gave John a heart attack.. ). BTW Glen fitted the kit today and I noticed the difference straight away in a smoother running car, again sorry about that I'll just go outside now and give myself an upper cut.......

Cheers Gerg

Okay, so I need help.

It looks to me that the button isn't on far enough. But I have pushed it on all the way.

Question 1). It this what other poeples looks like?
The dizzy is a 43d4 (same internals as a 45d but no vacuum advance).

Question 2). How do I control (or find out what) the advance is of the distributor. I suspect it is stamped on the plates, but not sure - will check tonight). But there are no springs or weights anymore. Did I take too much of the old components out? Should there be springs and weights in there to control the rate of advance?

If the button isn't on far enough, just hold the drive at the bottom of the dizzy to stop it from turning and push the rotor down whilst gently rotating the rotor as it has probably not seated on the locating tab properly.

The total advance of the distributor will be stamped on the advance cam. You should not have removed any of the springs, or advance mechanism of the dizzy. You should only have removed the old points and condenser, and replaced it with the ignition module. No further dismantling of the dizzy is required. All the electric ignition does is replace the function of the points to provide spark to the engine, it does not replace the mechanical means of advancing the ignition timing.
