willy,

I got my Rollmaster kit from him.
Arrived promptly and nicely packaged :D

GR put it on my motor, says they are great kits... and finally someone else has said 'No need for a belt kit' Thanks!!!!! I have been saying it but people no listen :-)

The old chains on double rows were supposedly very bad... these Iwis chains are great, no slack, good quality chains.

Cheers,
Peter.

I agree, the Iwis duplex chains are the only ones worth calling chain. Most of the others available now are already stretched from new.

Belt drive? Sure, I run one in the 1360- but only because I inherited it. New belt drive kits are silly money now. The 1412 stroker is getting an Iwis duplex chain. 8)

Does anyone know about Reynolds chain? I got this with a vernier adjustable kit a while back. It seems pretty old-skool however.

The romac catalogue for these is here:
http://www.romac.com.au/pdf/2005%20C&B%20Product%20List.pdf

Go to page 4. CS8200 MTO

These are the vernier adjustable timing sets, (infinately adjustable) not just the multiple slot version. Either is fine if GR is doing it. Infinately variable makes the job MUCH easier if doing it at home.

I checked on vpw and they don't list it any more, sorry will, I bought mine 2 years ago, about $140 for the complete kit.

Cheers
Matt

Thanks for the assistance Matt.. I realise that some of us have jobs that we can't be on Ausmini all the time

Graham is happy with the fitting of the Rollmaster version - he'll have it tomorrow or Wednesday to play with 8)

(Not long to go now!)

Rob if running a belt, the best one around now is the Kevlar one, made in Japan, available only from Mini Mania. Good for 50,000 MILES they say.

They reckon the stockie belt is only good for 20,000 but I did 40,000M and it still looked new. (I reckon maybe stockies less good now these are made in PRC).

A chain is good new, passable after 1000 miles, loose after that. When it gets to rattle you bin it. 8)
If you want ACCURATE timing the belt is hard to beat.

I'm with him ^^

if I got a timing belt kit for cheap I'd be using it, but I have the rollmaster ones on the motors I've built....

I think thats exactly the point. $$ for value.
Yeah, hell a belt is cool, quiter, maybe a fleas nut more accurate but looking at the price of a new Rollmaster kit vs a new Belt kit... its obvious to me to go the rollmaster.

Even if I replace it I cant still get 3 for the price of one new belt kit.

Pete.
