Do you mean headlight peaks?

Only ever an aftermarket accessory, and will fit any round nose mini. search for them on the big online retailers in the UK,

Cheers
Matt

Just check with the law though Cass as it might give an officer an excuse to defect you if they don't like you . Comes under the sharp protrusions from the front of the car I think from memory , which is a shame because I like the look of them , maybe not quite as big as mad-mk1's but with that kit they fit in .

They are actually a bit of a British hangover from the second world war were is was important to keep the lights covered from overflying enemy aircraft and accidental highbeam out of oncoming drivers eyes.

Thirty years ago, in Britain it was still common for cars to drive around at night with just their parking lights on and rely entirely on the omni-present street lighting. Not in country areas though.

Cass, they may look good, but i think you will very soon find they limit the mini's lighting capabilities fairly extensively.

Not sure if I want them yet. I also want Spot likes.... like maybe four of them. Thinking that wont go to well with the eyelashes though.

Another thing.
Would I need to get a bigger batterie or better alternator considering when I get my licence the car will have a stereo in it, and 60%+ of the time I'll be driving at night?
Would battrie and alternator capacity be taken into consideration when puting spotlights on the car?

Sorry, kind of a noob question - But I am kind of a noob....

Cass

Battery is fine as long as it is a normal mini type. Now when you speak of alternators - does your mini have an alternator or a generator ??? The older generator just will not cope with the electrical load you are considering.

A bigger better alternator would help and there are heaps of threads about that on here about what types and how to fit them.

On my car, I have a standard 35 amp/hour generator, normal battery (in good condition) and hi powered quartz Iodine (halogen ??) headlight inserts and mostly they are good enough even in the kangaroo infested roads we have.

I do, however, have a good big relay fitted to take care of the electrical load to the lights. You will need the same for any better headlights or spot lights.

Thanks Mike.

It's got an alternator. Will have a search and a look round ausmini for some more info during the day.

Cam - your car is the one I was looking at when I decided to have a look into them.

Do they stick out furthery than the bumper bar?

I read something in the road worthy rules thing that stuff isnt allowed to stick out further than the bumper bar.... Dont know i could be very wrong here.

If anything, by a bee's penis (or the metric equivilent) Will get a pic later if you want, stuck in the office at the moment. It'd be a hard cop that booked you for having them, even if they were protruding past the bumper...whip em off for rego, put em back on, takes 2minutes. VW's run them too... ive tryed a few of the types for the early and late bugs, they dont fit too well coz of the shape of their light. So all your after are headlight peaks to suit 7" round headlights. I got mine from Huddersfield Mini spares in the UK, $32-$35 delivered. That was a while ago now tho, id assume someone in Aus would be bringing them in for aout half that now. Thems the breaks :!:

The bit on the RTA's site is here , http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/ ... tml?rlid=2 , not neccesarily past the bumper in NSW as bull bars can go past the bumper providing the meet the standards . It's the whole sharp edges thing to do with injuring pedestrians . While they aren't sharp and would be likely to brake off rather than stay and cut a pedestrian if you hit them , it could be a grey area if the officer is having a bad night doing RBT's and wants to be mean . I'd say take them off for rego too .
