Hi my name is Clayton ive been coming to this forum for about a month,

I've just got my little project. I paid $900 and I got a 1965 flat roof mini van in good working order and very little rust. Its currently fitted with a 950. In the deal I also got a 1100 motor a spare van shell, floor pan and a few other bits and bobs. I don't really know prices these things go for, but I hear the flat roofs are harder to come by? But anyways Im a happy chappy, I'll post pictures of my progress as time goes by.

Fez is no relation to that 70's show guy its to do with my last name, its what my mates call me. But that 70's show guy is a bloody crack up heh.

The van hasnt got its original 850 in it apparently, but Im yet to have an in depth inspection.

Later model vans have pits running along the length of them. They are corregated like a fence. But the one I have has a flat surface like the regular mini.

On your site is says you are a 3rd year engineering student. What engineering are you studying? I am or was a 3rd yearengineering student also. Im doing electrical over here at Curtin.

GReeting Fez...Yep Love the show also....

Not many of the flat tops around nice score Fez for $900..Now I would say it does not have the little vent also.. :!:

950 I think you will find it'll be a 850 or 998...what numbers are on the engine block Radiator side...while you'r at it get all the numbers from the engine bay (body Numbers, Head etc)

And welcome its time to have some fun 8)

I've got a "smooth" roof traveller and a "ripple" roof van.

Smooth roof vans are rarer than ripple roofs. Sounds like a good buy!

my van ('66) has a flat roof also, and there was another flat roofed '66 at the Mini Experience launch today - they are about, just not many of them. I'm pretty sure they all received the roof vent - I'm planning on getting rid of the vent for that totally smooth look, plus the bastard leaked a huge puddle on the rear floor on the way down to melbourne on Sunday. I jammed a couple of screwdrivers into the closing mechanism to pull it down tight - didn't work though. Also saw a green van with a once piece side opening back door - neat thing, tho looking at it I reckon 2 doors is better, single door'd open up a long way in the garage, and guaranteed to get in the way and get bashed...

here's a pic Image
