Hey Fellas/ladies

Im new to the forums and to the great car that is the mini, but not to the love and the fun.

Im about to purchase my first mini from my uncle, he restored this mini a few years back (3-4 i think) and while i trust my uncle im not sure on what to look for when going over the car?

What a main problem areas? ie floorpans, rust, wiring harness etc etc? Ill buy the mini regardless because im keen as mustard to get one and scoot around. (and to do some engine mods of course!!)

Im unsure of the exact specs of the mini - i know it used to have a 998cc but he put a reconditioned/new 1098cc in it when he restored it, oh and it has extractors and clubman s drum brakes (i think thats right).

Well any help is appreciated so thanks in advance

ps my name is Brendan and i live in Brisbane, QLD, so when i get this mini ill be keen to go for runs and meets etc etc (thats if there is any)

Check for rust in anything made of metal!

Seriously like any old car rust is the big enemy, mini's seem even more prone than usual and they can get rust nearly anywhere. Wouldn't do any harm to compression test the engine but apart from that just make sure everything operates as is should (clutch, brakes, electrics etc)

groovy, i should be seeing him next week some time so im going to look over it even. Im so excited, i cant wait to get it....have to sell my other car tho, by order of the boss/wife.

she reckons that a 88ea falcon S original manual and a HJ60 landcuiser in the yard is just too much, my cruiser is my daliy driver so that is what has to go, oh well it will be worth it
