Nolathane sells a red poly bush here with a hex bore, designed to replace the felt bush on OZ made racks.
I have fitted one into my original MiniMatic rack, but it's not in the car now (I'm using the old rack from Spiro da Moke). 8)
Note- Oz racks are bigger diameter than the UK ones where the bush runs on them.

I drove a mini the other day with lots of steering free play. On investigation it turned out to be a loose steering arm on the front hub. Might be worth checking this also.
Good luck

:D If you do remove and replace your steering rack, make sure that you tighten your steering column pinch bolt to the steering pinion before you tighten the u bolts holding the rack to the body, Failure to do this will very often result in stripping the spline on the steering column,
Best regards,
John

Just found the reciept for my rack that was reco'd.... Fulcrum did it back in 2001. But that means that its only seen 9000 miles use in that time.. Why do i bother paying other people to do work for me?

So pulled the bloody rack out today.... All went well, little bit time consuming tho.

Ill get it stripped down n rebuilt when i get back from the Gold Coast.

Here is the receipt from when i got it reco'd back in 2001.. They have put crap in there for torana and VB-VK Crummodore...????

Hmm - seems far too clean to me! Every rack I've ever removed is covered in crud

I'm wondering if they bothered to lubricate it properly after the re-build. I understand they use grease now as the EP90 is considered user un-friendly :?

Yeah, no crap on this one, it was only fitted to the car in 2001.

We will just have to wait and see, give it a few weeks n we will open it up and find out. Maybe it was rebuilt by a leprechaun?
