Is there twi seals... and how did you get the rubber to bend around the corners with out gathering. I'm guessing like you want to bend wood and slot it.

I see what you mean now. This is a completely different seal to what mine had when I got it (and has now).

I'm at work now, so I'll post a shot or two tonight.

(Gotta take some pics of the "new" Jackaroo - replacement for the one that got BBQ'd - picking it up today!) :)

with my three years of engineering inexperience, i would guess that the hinge pin has a circlip that you can undo
or it has been pressed on one end (like a rivet) that you'll have to cut

Errr, mine appears to be the odd one out.

Blind rivers hold my vent in place, not bolts. Mine never had a seal like that since I had it, just one like this:

Hmmm.... :?

Ok now that im back from hollidays Ive got some pics of the van on a webpage ive just started:
http://home.iprimus.com.au/cjfairs/mini_van.htm

My 998cc engine that has replaced the 850cc has a s/n:
998H834JH010033

The old engine number should have been 8Y/ U / H / 23670
If I have taken these down correctly. I have a few spare old engine blocks in the back of my spare shell if Im lucky I may have the original but I have yet to check.

And to correct an ealier post my model number is YJBAV1R

Ill post a image of my vent later as well.

Cheers
Fez

Hi Fez.
You got a good one thier. with a bit of elbo grease and hard work she will come up a real treat. Your dad is good at his bartering
Not sure about the tralor tail lights thought. And you have a sun visor? Vans did not have these but they all came out with the Magic wand hole

I'll have to have a good look at my Vent today and possible pull it apart to what I realy have

Green van with the one piece rear door belongs to a friend of mine and member of the VMCI. He has actually bought it back again after selling it to buy a new MINI Cooper. It was sold to a Qld person and then another person before he got it back.

Yeah Im not too keen on the trailor light either they wont last much longer. Yet I have to put off the desire for all the little things as there are so many bits one could buy its crazy.

Im not quite sure what you meant by the magic wand hole youll have to elaborate there, but the visor looks original it certainly matches the roof trim and that hasnt been changed. Ill have to investigate more on that aspect. Again ill get some photos.

I had to laugh when I first got the van though. I couldnt for the life of me find the damn battery (being used to have it in the engine bay). Lift the back carpet and ahhh there it is !?! The thing is like Dr Whos Tardis there is so much extra space for things. Very clever on a small car.

I have to say I like the colour of your van Gafmo. I can still remember being 10 and driving past a little van in perth the same colour and really wanting to have one like that some day.
It looks like you have put in a fair chunk of effort too. I guess thats what I have to look forward too :)

Cheers Fez on the complements on my Marcia. She has seen a bit of work which is still happening as we speak..Cleaning all the front end suspention and brakes ready for painting. After the front end (less the motor) it will be the floor pan time :x

 regarding to the Battery I did the same..have you found the spare just look behind the passengers seat. Fuel tank is differnt also and a lot easier to get to than the normal mini's 8)

I was just mention the 850 hole in the foot weel as you said it previously had a 850 in it. It may be worth haveing a look to see if it's been welded up or you still have a hole. it will be in the centre of the floor but closer to the engine at feet hight.

I'll get to my vent today after I'v been on here for a little

The battery was originally on the floor directly behind the driver's seat. Has your battery been moved further back!?!

I reckon a lowline battery (eg Ford Mondeo, Kia Sportage) would fit neatly in that largely wasted space behind the driver's seat between the lower floor pan the and upper load floor. But it would mean cutting a hole in the load floor for access. :?
