Hi guys,

Finally getting a Mini... :D
Although a bit nervous about getting it registered here in VIC as the car was previously registered in SA.
I understand that I will need a VIC RWC.

Does anyone know a licensed tester that is:
a) Mini friendly
b) Opens on Saturday

Do Mini workshops do roadworthy testing as well?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

hey mate, if I remember correctly, john from Minibits in officer does RWC's, failing that, I just got my clubman roadworthied at R & S auto care in Pakenham. Nice couple who own and run the place, hes right into minis. They were very 'friendly' to my mini and she passed all for one globe. Only problem is they aren't open saturdays.
Hope this helps.
cheers

In the past i have avoided mini mechanics as they know where too look for wear and tear, faults, rust etc. Talk to friends and family, they might know a mechanic that does RWC. If you do have alot of problems, get them fixed at a mini mechanic, they will be faster(less labour=cheaper) and they will do the job properly.

Get a non mini shop to do the RWC.

Past experience for me found excessive scrutiny from RWC supplied through mini shop even though the guys at the shop are top notch. My latest RWC for a 78LS was done through a holden dealer recommendation. I got the RWC on the basis I promised to patch the rust hole in the boot floor. Never mind it was missing its air pump for emissions.

There are two recognised Mini rw specialists in the VMCI magazine;
Lindsay Siebler 9729 9522 and Toby Tyler 9786 0277.
Bayswater and Seaford respectivley

Yeah, which as I pointed out to the club CH registrar was pretty useless if you live on the West side of Melbourne, or further out.

I can thoroughly recommend Lindsay's work - in fact he has one of my cars right now.

Always top notch stuff and he's very willing to discuss what needs to be done and how best to acheive a great result

Hi again everyone,

Thanks for the replies.
Anyone ever had experience with Northern Mini Parts?
So far it's the only place I know of that is open on Saturdays, and they can prepare the car for roadworthy inspection, then bring it to a licensed tester.

I'm quite nervous at the moment, trying to get the Mini registered here ASAP.

Went to K-mart this morning, was told to get it done by a Mini specialist.
They mentioned stuff like windscreen which needs replacing (due to tiny scratches), foglights to be taken off (4 at the moment, 2 is the max allowed) and door not closing properly (as the door seal is visible from the outside).

Anyone has a rough idea how much would all that cost, to replace windscreen and fix the door? Hopefully i won't need to replace the door.

Daniel

Northern have a reputation for being very picky and expensive. Not the place I would take it.

Peter Parry in Geelong was very good, but he's not trading anymore. :(

What part of Melbourne are you in?

I live in the city. It's like I'm close to everything, yet far from everything. :?
