I don't think you (Cass) need an electronic dizzy but here's my opinion.

Pulsar dizzy is worth it. It's cheap, newer (less chance of being warn out) give better spark at high rpms (more power possible, especially under boost! (if you car is boosted)).

The seem to seal better. But I drive my mini in rain or shine. I've driven in a huge storm before, and more recently, medium rain. I t enver has an issue but I've water proofed my dizzy with a motor bike inner tube and some cable ties, works nice and looks neat.

I believe petronix ignitors are way overpriced as putting on a crap dizzy will give you a crap electronic dizzy no better. But a pulsar dizzy is generally going to be good due to the age (or should I say lack of...), and the power difference right off, with my change over was noticeable, much smoother in the upper rpms (where my power band seems to be!).

Ok I'm done, but there are many threads on this.

I would do the starter conversion before changing from points. The starter draws alot of current and often this limits power to the dizzy making a hard starting engine even harder to start. The gemini starter is better from this point.

Bad habits in wet weather (for me) have always been the other electrical connections in the engine bay. Sure, the spark goes out but look at all the dodgy connectors BMC used  I can hose the dizzy and the engine keeps running with points.

Electronic is good for high compression, high revving engines, using it as an excuse for std engines is a bit of a sales pitch me thinks

Daniel
