Don't know how people get away with some of their item descriptions  . This is what a real twin carb setup looks like.

It's not something I would bid on.

Twin carbs don't have to be matched left and right , the sports850 came out with two left hand carbs .

The description is fine, its the word 'Twins' which I think you have an issue with right?
Normally Twin SUs means left and right pair...

BUT

Looking at the definition I think the ones in the ebay link ARE twins and our left and right pairs are not a proper definition.

Anyway, I dont think this one is bad, I have seen FAR worse on ebay...

Pete.

Regardless of what SU's may have come out wih, those carbies are not well set up and Group N (or Appendix J) cars wouldhave had the biggest carbies availlable and most commonly, a weber.

Nobody pop rivets on sets of stacks.

My vote is let someone else buy them although I know the original thread asked for comment not advice on purchase.

I think you'd really only be buying the manifold in this case , not sure what it is though as the writing on the balance tube is facing away . The ports seem very small (I thought 1 1/8" at first) so that also goes against it being for a racing mini .

So what would tripples fitted to a Jag have? A left, a right and a?

BMC sold twin SU kits for Minis just like the one on Ebay (without the ram tubes)

As I said, I think its the word 'Twins' that is the concern here (for the original poster)... Jags were labelled Triple SU's - correct? ... not Triple Twin SU's now were they ;)

Pete.

I think the ads represented fine.

I wouldn't buy them, but the ad is fine.

Twin SUs were fitted to a lot of cars over a long period but it is only recently that people have started to argue about the meaning of "twins"
Lots of twins are the same and lots of twins are mirror image. They are all twins regardless. The first twins fitted to Minis were the same and later on they got Mirror image.
The advertising of dual carby kits usually used the words "twin"

1 x SU = Single
2 x SU = Twins.
3 x SU = Tripple. 8)

Yeah, thats what I am saying. I dont see a problem with the ad... I was asking the original poster if he was referring to the use of 'twins' in the ad.

Personally, I wouldnt buy em, I would prefer left and right carbs... in fact I just sold a set :D cause I like a single.

I think the advert misrepresents a tad. Be it niaivety or intent. They are purported to be off a historic racer. They are not off a Gp N racer or the like. They may be off a car that did motorkanas, sprints and the like.

I guess it cant be any worse than an advert for cosmetics in a geriatric hostel.

My opinion is that is

" SU Carby 1.25 Twins with maifold in good condition " correct.

If it mentioned " Matched " twins ... then incorrect.
