Well, I had the car in for RWC today; and apparently I shouldhave a part in the "Flintstones" !!!, the driver side is a tad rusty, and passenger side not much better. But who cares about passengers!

So that leads to questions..(and I would appreciate feedback)...........

* Is is hard, expensive, etc to replace the floor pan on both sides (i.e if I strip out the inside, does motor etc have to come out too?
* Is this a specialist thing, where I need an engineers certificate?

* Am I better to find a better body, or just sell the thing (which I'd hate to do), and buy another toy.

Right now, I see the benefit in replacing , as I love the car, it goes pretty well (1340 etc etc), and I would love to make it goe faster, but preferably with a floor.......

Appreciate any feedback,

Alfie1 :(

Replacing floors is common. I am doing it on mine at the moment...
Yes, I have a cousin who is a panel beater... but still they sell replacement panels for floors.

I have no clue how much $ it would cost in a shop.

Peter.

I would rather replace the floors and keep another mini on the road rather than simply dump it in favour of a better shell.

Sometimes it's worth cutting the whole floor out of another car, if that's the main problem with yours.
If it's localised rust, patches are OK- if more extensive the repair panels work. But the UK ones don't have a channel in em like our post- 67 ones, so you need to do a bit of thumping and modding.

When I had my floor done the replacement floor pans were around $60-80 and all that needs to be done is to cut out the old ones and spot weld in the new ones (also seam sealer etc.) Its best to do one side at a time to avoid any warping in the body.

The main problem is that if the floor is rusted that badly, odds are the sills are too. You may just run into a 'how far do i go?' situation. Rust is an enemy that always wins in the end.
