I just can't believe that you made a car that good and used copper brakes lines. Are you nuts?

Finally got the engine back in but not hooked up. Took a while to make up a braket for the extra radiator. You can see it in the pix tucked right down the bottom. I will need to move the licence plate to one side to aid the air flow.

Looks like a couple of lunch hours this week will be spent puttung the finishing touches on.

THere is a hell of a lot of movement in the drive shaft which makes me think ths splines are on there way out.

Oz, get those driveshafts right up to scratch....still shudder at the appalling accident at Sandown where the Mini turned left (into and over the armco)........just too important an area to cut corners

That engine will benefit if you fit a Carburettor!!

Looks like you have an aluminium radiator....good stuff!

Yeah I remember taht one where the mine went though a couple of fences and into the padock area where i guy standing not even in sight of the track got mowed down. Strange thing is it also happened to me at Oran Park earlier this year through the eses. Drive shaft popped out of the CV and with the LSD it just turned hard right at gave me a wild ride , nearly shite myself.

After three weeks of rushing down to the workshop most evenings after work and all day Saturdays, I finally put the finishing touches on the car this afternoon, will post some pix tomorrow. Even got the 4 pins in the bonnet so it's bye bye crappy hinges and sore head fron catching it on bonnet catch.

It was raining quite heavy when I finally got to slip behind the wheel for a quick run around the block. Holly cow, I've driven a mini with an LSD before but not on the road it's totally diffirent when you are negotiating things like round abouts and changing lanes. In the wet the thing just wanted to understeer and you MUST hang onto the wheel cause its trying to pull out of your hands all the time. Oh well, that's whay I wanted.

The other problem is the brakes. I took off the brake booster and I'm really unhappy with the brakes. Not sure if Kev or dean can confirm the type of pads in it. The pedal is nice and hard but the pads are not biting at all.

BTW KEV have I got the standard oil pick up in that?

Pix xmming tomorrow

No idea what pads are in it, could be any old thing- go get some Greenstuffs or something that works.

Yes you do have a centre oil pickup in there! :P

Hmmm, for drag racing I would have though a locked diff might work.....

Oz....if the pads are new .....they may not have had a chance to bed in yet??? :?:

Mick, this is Dean's old car with Dean's old brakes!!! Definitely not new..

Oz, Greenstuffs are good on the road/track, but also check what the discs are like. If thickness is 8mm or less buy 2 newies from Karcraft to go with the new Greenstuffpads.. 8)
