I sent John a personal email and to offer my condolences. Nice fam and just horrible news.

I lost my father when I was in Timor and yes it is sad, however I was numb from

a: What I was seeing over there(bloody Indons !!!),

b: The kiwi ship I got a lift with back to Dili got me faced on their last keg of DB draught(hangover was horrible!!) and

c: the shitter on the Potuguese C-130 (from Dili to Darwin) exploded on me, turning me a smurf blue colour for 6 weeks(made worse for the fact that I was wearing my Petty Officer Whites to the funeral...a sad day but punctuated by giggles and jibs from the mourners....I kinda hope the old man was laughing too.).

Loss is sad, remembering them is forever.

Have a great week-end all - make John smile and have a ball.
