When is somebody going to make an alloy rocker cover with the fins going the right way for a transverse engine ....

They're all for longitudinally mounted motors , so the airflow runs between the fins for extra cooling (not sure how much cooling you need for the little bit of oil in there though , must be a hangover from older motors) . Ideally for a mini the fins should go front to back .

But the airflow goes in the front and out the side, so the fins should curve?

i imagine you'd get more heat out by simply radiating from the extra surface area.

Well, yes that and the fact that I don't believe the fins provide any measurable amount of cooling. Its just a wanky excuse to be able to justify buying them. Not that I have anything against bling, but I don't reckon you need to overthink this one. Its not a performance mod.

I put one on my LS but more for the fact that it was polished aluminum and it looked better than the original... Ok, for the bling factor... :?
