Could anyone give me a valid reason why I shouldn't put 13 inch rims on my mini, she has 8 1/4 discs on the front and factory fitted spacers on the rear and the guards have been cut to allow full turn from lock to lock.

Any past experiences please.

David.

lower profile tyres means a slightly harsher ride,
tyres are more expensive
wider wheels means more drag so slightly lower top speed and slightly worse fuel economy
heavier wheels means less acceleration
minor bump steer without adjusting suspension
harder to steer at slow speeds

they do look hot though

as long as you put negetive camber bars on then you will be fine... otherwise they jump around the bends rather then steer.. (well on the racetrack they do :P) the only issue is steering when the car is stationary. it can wear out your spindal between your column and rack if you do it too much its also quite heavy but you get used to it.

We have 13's on our mini. I think it looks fantastic. Personally, I havent noticed heaps in the difference between 12's and 13's on it. although it is a smoother ride. Its always heavy to steer (no powersteering of course).

I dont know what the go is for making it legal to have 13's on a mini in NSW as they're more than 26mm bigger than the original size or something like that.

you've got a set of 13x7s, right?

Use them. They are perfect for your wheel arches and will look brilliant.

Poo-poo the nay sayers...

Do it.... do it...

Whoa I'm seeing double!?!?!

Hey I always thought 10s were the go. Until I saw a kit in the US for 9.5 disc, only for 13 inch wheels! Yummmm.

Go the 13s, wheel bearings don't cost that much do they?

Slinkey, where was the 9.5 inch brake kit from? Any details?

If you use Timkin roller bearings, they are rated a twice the side load...? of the normal wheel bearings. That should nullify any problems or atleast bring the wear factor back in line with 10 inch wheels.

I think Josh's `Tar-Ox' 6 pots look even better-
made in Italy but he imported from UK.
