Howdy

just been to look at a 73 Clubman S, seems rust free but is in a few pieces.

Could this car have been born with a 3 gauge dash, 1100 motor and cloth insert seats (well I can it cloth but lots of "nylons" gave up their lives to its production)

It's a hydro car on styled steel wheels (plastic flares and stepped drums)

Was an old guys retirement resto project that stalled some years ago, is asking $3300 which seems a tad high but what would I know - I only buy ADO16's

Any ideas?

cheers

Kevan

Sounds right. Aussie Clubmans had Hydro and an 1100 engine until very late 73 or early 74.

Nylon weave inserts and three gauge dash is standard too.

its better then the dealership that i went to have a look at today :?

i was walking past this used car dealership when i spotted a 1972 brown clubbie sitting in the corner, so i went to take a closer look the dealer started chatting to me saying it could be a 1275 (which it wasnt) and that looked brillant which it did the paint looked the new and looked like no rust at all (possibly bogged up) he told me that he bought it from a ford dealership which they juz redid the head on it so i thought beautiful, cars looking fantastic, it looks close to be original and the head was juz recoed. went for a road test and lets juz say when doing a head with old pistons rings still in the motor i dont think mixed well cause the car was missing and blowing smoke and i came back i said the guy that something wasnt right and he goes that the rings had gone in the car so it needed to be done but that was it, i thought ok still worth it for the body. finally got around to asking the price....$5500.....MY EYES POPPED OUT OF MY HEAD, i said r u mad or wat that car isnt worth 2500 let along 5500, he juz looked and said alright ill drop it to 5gs i said to him come ill show u are mini for $5500 and up when i showed him tiny he goes theres some rust spots and its not original id give u $3000. my mouth droped couldnt believe it he valued tiny a roundnose 1969 mini k with front disk brakes with booster and hi lows and 1100 recoed motor for $3000 its juz depressing to hear that.... some people juz dont know how to value a car. :(

and yes i do realise that this had no point but it was a good story i think :D
