We i have some great news, I finally got my mini yesterday, and i just cant get the smile off my face. Its a 1967 Morris Mini Deluxe (ill put some pics up when i borrow the digi camera from work). we did our first drive through today.....i must say its funny seeing the chick lean down to hand me my food (i used to drive a hj60 landcruiser). Im just so happy, i keep making excuses to the wife just so i can go driving somewhere anywhere. One great thing about owning a mini when you go clothes shopping with the wife/gf i say "if it doesn't fit in the boot, we are not buying it" :D :D :D :D

well anyway im off to drive places, i just thought i would share my happiness with you guys and i glad to join the ranks

Cheers

Brendan "i cant get enough" Jones

ps Have a great weekend

Congrats on being a mini owner - and in one of the most rare mini's around (how many people have come up to you and said they used to own a deluxe instead of a cooper S?) :P

I hope you have a great time enjoying her - remember (as said above) there's no point in having a car if its not driven!

P.s. Your deluxe isn't sand/beige is it?

I know what you mean! All the fast food establishments around me are new, and I can hardly reach up to the window at Maccas! A lot easier to do in my 4WD. And round here, if you're in a Mini they look at you as if they think you're broke, and are even less helpful... :x They don't realize that a Mini often isn't a choice dictated purely by (a lack of) finances, it's a matter of taste.
Congrats on your purchase. :D

My friends don't understand why I have a mini and tell me that I should get a better car (I have no idea why) but they don't realise that I could have bought a BRAND NEW car with the amount of money I have spent on my car. The thing is I don't want a brand new car - I don't want to be like everyone else!

I followed my friends out of my first Mini and into newer cars, but they were just as sad after I sold it... :( Too many good memories... :) Them hitting the seat belts and sliding all around the back of the car! But once you're hooked, you're hooked! You'll always come back. :)

That's exactly it!

Some people want to be just like everyone else. But I see no fun and individuality in that. Also I'm famous in the town and hills around here. Actually, I'm not famous my car is, and now I've found two other Leyland mini's and a moke nearby due to this.

The money is nothing, I don't feel bad spendin silly amounts of money on it. Hey, my dad's mate owns an Austin Healey 3000, now the money I spend is nothing!

The good times far outweigh the bad, and I've had many bad.... :D

Time for new friends! :P jks

Yes, I sold my last mini.. but I missed it too much (and so did my friends! :) ) and had to get another one! :D I got a round nose this time soo I'm much happier! Last time I was just happy to find a mini at all!!

I was seriously considering getting a 5.7L VZ SS Commodore before I found the mini. I borrowed my friends for a few days, so I could get the feel of it to see if I liked it. Sure, it was a nice powerful car, leather, air-con, etc... but somehow, I'd rather have my Mini.. and that might not even make sense to some people! Sure, its not a straight-line rocket like a V8 commo, but there's just something indescribable about driving a Mini thats like nothing else.. :D:D:D:D

1018cc - yeah its kinda a beige/sand colour , i think the colour is actually called meadow green but its a yellowy with a light green though it too. i was driving around mt-Gravatt and south bank today.

Oh and i got 3 mini waves today. one from a green beast over near mt-Gravatt and another from a brown (i think) roundnose near southbank....and the other was from a BINI near the airport. The wife kept on laughing at me because i was so happy with my first mini waves.

Yeah i love driving it. I have been carting the wife and her friend around all day, i just cant get enough. looking forward to mini day outs.

Cheers

Brendan Jones

Get ready for the continual maintenance that comes with Minis and the draining of the poor bank account :P
