What are some of the best ways to get substancial HP. (excludes motor conversions)
e.g I've heard of the BMW motorbike head and the 7 port head.
What are the options and your opinions.

Forced Induction!!

If you want big HP numbers... turbos the way to go!

I have a penchant for a supercharger on the ol' A-series tho :D

Thats the way I'm headed

I'm more talking about the bolt on side of things instead of boring etc.
What about all the heads they make 5 ports and so forth, worth it or
too expensive.

Big Heads you would go for, and have many options. Spend say $1500 on a Head opened up by one of the proes that suits your Engine (850/998/1098/1275) You can also go as you have mention 7 Port heads/ Alloy or even the BMW head.

But If you are going to the extent of Getting big numbers, You will want to do as a SC or Turbo Also as below. If you don't the next weakest link will brake then you will have to rebuild the motor later anyway.

You will won't Your Box checked and anything weak or sus. With this you should also do you Crank Bearings, the bores and pistons rings and rod's. Not to forget you will want a nice Cam

These have all been coverd in many threads which should be easy to find. Supercharges and turbo's are also bolt on and will cost you just much more again

If "The Fast and The Furious" is anything to go by, your Mini will descimate all with overnight parts from Japan.

Other than that, first thing to do is to reach deep into your pockets and see what you come out with, make your decisions from there :)
