 Post subject: Question on the Moke

There is a Modification Certification plate fixed on the firewall under the dash stating the car has been subject to a modification "Code LK1"

Anyone know what that would be? Could it be the front suspension? Have a look at this photo -

you will see on the front fender a rectangular protrusion that is one with a large steel plate bolted to the underside of the fender. The hollow protrusion is directly above the shock absorber but the current suspension appears to be original and not modified.

LK1 Means a rear seat conversion on a QLD Transport Blue Modification plate.

Someone's gone to the trouble of getting an enginerr to certify a rear seat. I reckon it's ex-rental, as they seem to be careful about that sort of thing.

The plate should still say who did the mod. I bet it's something like Cairns Rent A Car. :)

No - Minter Motors Yeppoon - still there so I'll give them a call Monday and see if they have any history 8)
