It depends on the starting block. My concors 850 was a one owner never modified in any way car when I got it so when restoring it I would have ruined a true original classic so it stayed purly original. My Austin super deluxe an 850 with cooper trim was also original and in no need of anything so it stayed the way it was. Riley Elf same again but will neaten up trim and carpet from newton comercial, its available so I'll use it and no more expensive than getting a trimmer to make non original here. The motor needs work so here is an oportunity to have a little fun and maybe have a sleeper. My mini K panel van was completely bastardized BRG with white roof full of bog and engine rooted by people with no idea, it had a quick shift happily destroying 2nd gear as they do and a delorto carbie washing tones to much fuel down the 2nd and 4th cylinders and a modified cam ensuring the car would never run right because noone had the skill to put it together right. It also had those cheap screw on flares checker plate floor mats and to top it of a yellow painted engine with matching fuel tank YUCK. The van has now gone back to original spec no bog original bright work and trim is painted black matching colour on ID plate and the paper work from BMC regarding costings for painting mini K comercials non standard colours. I guess this would make me a purist. I have nothing against modified cars in anyway as I admire quailty and craftmanship so if done well I like anything. Rob who owns the sky blue turbo clubman with connely leather hide dash and recaro seats is a friend and has crafted a suberb mini to the highest standard I love it. Hoping that one day I find a clapped out mini with many non standard touches begging to be modified heavily as I would love a modified street car to add to the collection but unfortunatley with changes in the law coming into effect next year it may be an impossible dream. I like anyone who keeps minis on the road and every mini on the regardless of what it looks like.

Steve

nermil and me are on the same page - couldn't bring my
self to go stupid on the sunshine with mods so it is back to
original (bar the engine but you can eaasily swap that
when i get my hands on a 998) as with the LS it will be standard
but on vivienne it is going to be nice personal touches - depends
on what car

I think I would be more in the " How much could I get away with before the wife starts complaining" category. but on the whole - modern classic cooper on the outside, leather and walnut on the inside, 1100 with twin su's under the bonnet for now, 1275A+ later with discs. I have also decided to sell my Merc, get a clubby as a run around and use the rest of the cash for Scooby. After that the clubby will be a reproduction of the one my mum had in England - Golden yellow with a brown velour interior - he will be known as Daffy the 2nd - It will be my daughters when she statrs driving in a couple or 3 years.

I'd like one of each - except the "rust red" suggestion. :D
