youve got a spray set up , would it be worth a try running some fabric dye through it on a bit of material similar to the seat fabric and see what sort of result you get?

Northern Mini Parts in Melbourne sell those Cobra seats or something similar anyway. He imports them so probably the same ones.

not a bad idea that......

I am a guy, and never dyed anything in my life.....from what I have read you need to soak the fabric, then let it 'set' before drying it. Does that sound right?

I delivered my seats to the trimmer today.

He is doing them in original black vinyl and black dot cloth...and I mean ORIGINAL!!! He worked for BMC / Leyland and took all the remaining trim rolls when Australian operations closed down. I am getting THE LAST EVER Clubman black dot cloth in existance, on my seats......

He reckons the pureists will faint when they see these clubby seats.

Here are the 'before' pics.....the after pics will be up in 2 weeks

He explained the story (again) of why the OZ operations closed down. In a nut shell, Brittish BMC needed cash, and convinced the Aus government to buy the Australian division......we all know how the government runs businesses don't we.....hence no more Mini's after 1978.

hey Anton, can you see if you can ask him where BMC sourced the dot fabric from? or has that avenue already been explored long before?

Well it looks like im too late, but there is a guy down the road who does soem very good re-trimming work at reasonable prices.....

Ill have to ask my brother, but he retrimmed his seats as part of his auto project for school at pretty good prices..the work was excellent too.

I had the seats in my Monaro retrimmed, and same as Anton, found the guy with the last roll of Houndstooth cloth trim that was in the GTS seats of the time. Full retrim for just the front seats was 400 bucks, but that was like 6 years ago. Got sick and tired of buttheads asking me how much it cost to put all the GTS trim on. Never occurred to them that it was original. Aircon, power steering, and power windows made that car one nice ride.

But anyway, back to the real cars. I priced custom fitted carpets for my clubby, rewebbing under the front seats(trim is superb), and the vinyl in the door pockets. Prices ranged between 450 and 600. The hoodlining was gonna be about 500 bucks on its own, if I removed the front and rear windscreens myself.

Prices are gonna vary for material and labour. So add up to 50 percent to your quote to be on the safe side.
