Hi there again. Sorry to harp on about this, but I just wanted to make a couple of final queries:
1. In relation to the Mini K decals, I think I will make up an acetate template for (one of) the dimensions that have been supplied here. Measure out the horizontals and verticals, then cut out a circle of the same diameter as the decal. Laying it onto the car, hopefully I'll have consistent placement.
But my question involves the next move; what advesive should I be using? The decal is aluminium, and I'd be going onto baked enamel. Is there a reccommended adhesive for automotive badges? The template would act as a mask in the unlikelihood of excess glue, but is there something that has a few moments of play, and something that can be wiped off really quickly after the badge goes on?
2. The second question invoves the Mini K bonnet badge. Looking up and under at the indside of the hood, I was surprised to see the filler that must have been used to patch the three holes for the original badge. Seems like nobody bothered to take it down flush to the metal before being re-painted.
My question is this - should I have a bit of a look around with a small piece of very fine sandpaper, to see if I can gently take only enough of the paint off the filler to reveal a trace of the original holes, then drill them out from the inside? Touch-ups around the holes could then be made.
I figure there's no sense in drilling more holes than what's already there, and if finding the original holes means that I don't have to worry about centering it...it seems like a logical move. Does anybody disagree? If so, I'm all ears - I don't want to rush into this.
I know these questions might seem a little backward. These kinds of things seem simple in theory...I really only get one shot at this too.
I don't really want to do this the hard way.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou very much for the knowledge and advice
