Thanks to a bit of great work by members of the NSW Police, after six (6) months Steve's Cooper S has been recovered almost intact. I cannot devulge any further details apart from:
1.the crook has been arrested
2. the car was resprayed black (badly)
3. and was to be rebirthed.
4. Further arrests are expected.
Steve would like to thank the Mini community for their support. We were always confident that the car/parts would surface and be identified due to the unique nature of the car.
This incident shows that through this forum, and enough real mini fans keeping a lookout, we can put these mongrels where they belong: IN GAOL!!!

Remember: LOCK-UP your mini, and insure it for its 'real' value: other people want it.

Thankyou all once again on behalf of Steve. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

What great news! I was not expecting such a fantastic ending!

I had just posted my condolences, but was not expecting such a good ending to the story. Now that I've caught up with the thread, I'm really happy to know that one further pride and joy is back in it's rightful owner's hands.
Good opportunity for a beautiful new paint job!

Well done! :D

Im so glad to hear this. This is fantastic news , let's just hope this is one of many to be recovered, mine included

This has made my day to know a stolen mini has been recovered and not badly abused either.

Finally some justice!

Hopefully the car can be restored to it's former glory. In a situation like this, would insurance cover the cost of repaint etc. ?

You know I have 2 'normal' cars which I wouldn't give 2 hoots about being stolen - that what insurance is for, but if either of my Minis where stolen, no insurance could cover the amount of work and sacrifice. I am seriously looking into heavy imobilisation and tracking devices for both.

Very very happy for Steve and I hope he has a trouble free future with the car.

Gig
