Con's GTI Turbo is pretty fast, although I heard he sold it to someone over seas? quoted from the website:

Quote:
In street trim this car runs a 13.59 @ 109MPH (GTech) and with slicks can cut 12.74 sec 1/4 mile

13sec............... would be interesting to find out what the record is...... although they only group the categories in RWD 4WD FWD etc and 4/6/8 cylinders. As i said earlier, i think that when the car is fully sorted that high 12's would not be out of the question on 14psi, like u said though it all depends on getting power down and launches right..... can't wait to see what 2005 holds for the mighty Starlet GT Mini 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) ........... quickest mini in OZ????............. is on the cards methinks 8)

Thanks again guys for the encouragment, i thought you would be all "oh its not a mini its a toyota", but you have suprised me with your open minds.

yeh cons mini went to usa i think, for a healthy sum too. did i hear $20k us??

Oh and mine did a 12.95@115mph on a gtech, they are not that accurate with fwd and big wheel spin. Dont think ill ever get mine into the 12's on street tyres, unless i get a oz lotto win or something, for the cost to get it down there i could build another 13.9 sec mini :)

could snare a 12.99 with more boost and slicks but then clutchs and driveshafts start to feel the pain. I will go out agian next year with more power, but that dosnt always mean quicker times, just have to get lucky on one run and get it to stick to the track.

Would like a low 13, i think that is the limit of a standard engine on street tyres, maybe ill get a microtech for my b/day you never know :D

13sec, are you going to run the mini on slicks to see what times you can acheive??? or are you just going to leave it in street trim and be happy with that and not have to stress about breakages......... oh yeah, did you really think that we would question your choice of modification??????/ Geez this is Ausmini, the most informative, the best and happiest bunch of forum members i have ever seen!!!!!!

I may run it on some slicks if i can find some cheap enough, not many around in 13inch i dont think. I will keep an eye out though.

As for what you said about ausmini it is 100% true, great bunch of guys and gals, thats why the only signage on my car is a www.AUSMINI.com sticker, best mini site on the net in my opinion.

brad, things to get WITHOUT stressing ur engine and all it's moving parts would be to some slicks. get the engine running nicely and on
14psi and take every single thing out the car that u dont need to run down the strip.
so u can give her a run with just u and engine and the shell.
then i reckon on ur best possible u'll get to ur 13.4's

stressing a stock engine with bolt on bits can only go so far IMO.
If you want to go to high 12's safely not just winding the boost up and hoping for the best
i'd say opening the engine up and doing some work inside would be necessary.
obviously u know all this, thought i'd just help reinforce it.
12 second cars and 13 second cars aren't in the same league. IMO

BUT.
Your car, IS the bomb. anyone on hear would love to have it.
drive it like everyone's envious of it. coz they r

I'm certainly not gonna be concerned that ya have the Toymota donk in it. I reckon as long as it fits in the original shell, then it's fine. The fact you've installed a more modern engine is, to me, just keeping the car in a guise more suitable to today's ecological climate. The attributes of the mini arent lost.

It still fangs around corners with the best of em, with an engine that run's more efficiently, is easier to source parts for, and puts out bulk HP(for it's size). I just reckon you're keeping your mini in a form that will last another 40 years. Congrat's again.

Since he would have been in the pits, he wouldnt have had a VB stubbie in his hands, but I'll bet he was wearing a VB t-shirt, and has the biggest busted ass XD falcon rust bucket in the field(but has a full house 351 Clevo in the garage at home to throw in it!!!!).

Just another sign of the ignorance of knobbers out there, that cant just appreciate the amount of work that's gone into the mod's. That engine will still have spare parts years after the last A series has reverted back to oxides.
