as there are so many replica vehicles and as the supply of rhs tanks drys up surely theres an opening for remanufacturing these things. it appears that someone does as the mini spares catalogue has a part number for a new one.. anyone down that way got a price? I dont want one, its just a curiosity thing , anyway at the $400+ they have been going for, there is a dollar in it for a little home industry sideline. i doubt that they need to be anitomicaly correct in most cases. as i have seen some that are just necks and fuel caps b4 LOL...

I've got no idea why there isn't someone making them. Quite a large market, and would be very profitable on a small "home" scale, as you said.

I think that If they could be made and look the same as the orgianl tank and are cheaper then there would be a big market for them.

Making RH tanks would not be cheap. Then you have the worry of liability if anything goes wrong with the ones you sold....
