BOC has this - what i would call a 'standard' gear stick. This is different to what you're refering to.

OK Een , this is a magic wand , it comes out directly from the back of the gearbox with less linkages and has a more direct feel :D

Interestingly (opening a can of worms right now....), my 850, and yes it's an 850, has no original Pudding stirrer/magic wand hole, only one cut (dodgily) by tin snips and an proper remote hole. So I guess mine must have been optional?? As there is no signs at all of a new floor pan.

The only other model it could be is a Morris Cooper. But plate says 8Y/U/H, YMA2S1, number matchs number under plate on firewall, unless firewall is from another car of course  . It does has full front valance. Door catchs are sliding window type. So it's deifintely from the 850 era.

Just felt like adding this to the ring, becasue last time I did I got told I was wrong, but no. I've asked a friend of mine who is very into original Mini stuff and knows a lot, and he said he's seen some wierd stuff, and this isn't all that wierd compared to some other stuff.
