I think the Fijian's will be alright. They have 4 bucket seats instead of the old type ones. It will suit the environment. I think iit might be more than an exercise. I can only just hope that a complianced version could be sold here, as a brand new car, now that would be awesome.

Also, August Miniworld, page 7. It talks about them too, but doesn't mention Fiji, so this leads me to think it might be a more global thing.

Anyways it gives this, http://www.moke.com.hk

PS Spaceboy, my dad said it was a great short trip, no mention of military stuff hindering his trip. He said it's been built up a lot since we went there about 8 years ago.

Doesn't someone in Sydney make Moke bodies ? I recall the ad in TME (sorry not got it with me) Fiji could be a good export market for them and might help with getting an ADR'd version back again ?

Mini & Moke World make (or made?) a kindofa sortofa Moke body...

IMO there is no way you will get current ADR approval for new Moke bodies, whether made here or in China.

So... who seriously thought about moving to Fiji when they read this thread.

This is awesome news, I want one :).

Don't know what you are all getting so worked up about - these are the same Moke bodies being imported into Australia by MiniBits in Melbourne ( and I think maybe John King - but stand to be corrected on that). Mini Bits has them on eBay regularly and alsminik has put one together down in Tassie http://universe.websiteactive.com/~ausmini/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34966&highlight=

They will be sold as brand new cars, not bodyshells. That's the key part about this thread. They are taking the new Moke bodies to a new level.....

New Moke Vehicles.

I'm not sure when they will be going into production, my dad said he didn't see any around when he was there a few weeks ago, but who knows, it wouldn't taken them long to get going. :D

Oh and for those going to Fiji, I asked him about military presence and he said none. He didn't see any men (or women for that matter) with gun or in uniforms. It seems the Australian news has just hyped things up.

John at MinBits said the full engined ones will be a long way down the track - compliance being the big issue but in the meantime they what to iron out the bits and piece to help it all go together smoothly - and find out what the market wants.

Even if Fiji does produce Mokes with engines they will have to met ADRs to get them registered here - same as bringing in any other car - and a Moke will have a lot of issues over a full bodied car. Don't get me wrong - I'd love a new Moke but I don't see it happening while I'll be young enough to enjoy it - so I'll just rebuild my '78 project instead.

No they won't be coming here, at least not for quite sometime, if at all. I'm not sure.

Anyways, simply, the point is that there is a company in Fiji, going to be assembling brand new Mokes, and selling to locals and local islands as brand new cars, I think it's cool, has nothing to do with ADRs, FDRs maybe?
