Is it illegal to sell them, or buy them with the intent to use them?

He thought they were worthless. Now knows better and is fishing through the bin hopefully.

I think used seatbelts are in the same category as radar detectors in NSW , you can have them sitting around , you can buy or sell them , but as soon as you use them you're in trouble .

That's not the point, these belts are faded, and technically speaking are 'worn' and should not be used; despite the fact that they are secondhand.

You are correct in saying that some Minis did not come with belts from the factory.

understood, im not saying people should use them, but how many people here have the same belts fitted to their car since the day it was made? i bought some NOS retractable britax belts still with tags attached, but have a couple of boxes of bmc/leyland seatbelt's some not faded and others are. heaps of mini shops sell second hand ones, never knew if it was legal or not

He's been putting his odds and sods up on ebay from time to time, what he has put up is only a sample of his delights. he had the new interior light, BMC air filters etc etc...

He also had a fuel cap for a holden that went for 160 last week, he's putting them up slowly to put money aside for a world trip. when he first started bringing this stuff out, he was hoping to get maybe 10 or 15 bucks for some of the pieces. He's been seeing quite a bit more than that in and outside of Ebay. I reckon you will see the belts come up if you watch, but he's in no hurry.

Nice old couple too.

i was told it one of those grey areas, same as driving an unrego'ed car to a rta or safty inspector, i was told that if you tamper or open them up it deems them unroad worthy

In WA there is no grey area about driving a vehicle to the RTA, you get a permit.
