Anyone know if there were any 3 1/2" mags made for mini's ? I'd like to put mags on the sports850 but want them to fit neatly without flairs . I have a set of Dunlop's and a set of Contesta's but they're both a little too wide . Are there any other options (be well and truly old wheels by now) ?

I went into the local Bridgestone Dealer last month asking about the 10 x 5 Peformance minilite replica wheels but couldn't find a lisiting, however the only one he could find in the system was 10 x 3.5'' but didn't know of the brand or style. Thought it might have been a Cooper replica.

What about these ones Ian, recon they would look great painted up with black inserts.
Trailer wheels tho? Would they be ok for a car?

I looked at some similar ones a while ago but they were only rated to 100 kg so was a no go , I'll look into those and see if they're to the same standards as road cars . They look similarish to Dunlops and the width's right , I'm planning to have some hillclimb fun though so want to be sure ....

Hi Ian,

I've never heard of 3.5" mags. However, 4.5" FIA offset Minilites were designed to fit under non flaired arches waybackwhen....... They were fitted to Ss so would work on the 850 with built-in-spacered drums.

Factory offset Contestas would also fit with spacered drums. Depending on the tolerance of your pink slip inspector, 165s are OK but 145s would remove any doubt.

Aftermarket Contestas would probably work with standard drums - much like reverse offset S rims but I'd check out the (inside) rear arch clearance before handing over the money.

Cheers, Ian

I've seen pics of some UK ones but nothing seems to have been available mainstream here except for the trailer wheels so no joy . I'm still chasing up the performance ones but nothing yet . Might have to stick to steelies for the time being till something obscure turns up (would have to be from way back when 850's were released I'd say) .

performance superlites don't come skinnier than 5", and have a wide offset anyway... they don't list anything other than superlites in 10" on their website.

Maybe MiniDave was told about a trailer wheel...

Basically I'm trying to keep it looking like an 850 with skinny wheels , wider mags even with 145's on them will still look fatter whereas skinny wheels with 145's will look "right" for it . Besides , it's still an 850 even with twin carbs , modern 145 tyres are probably stickier and more stable than the 165's of the time and will be adequate .

If you want to just use the wheels on the racetrack you could get some wheels narrowed to the right width.

your best bet are probably a set of jellybeans. I used to have them on my K with 145's and they sat inside the guards nicely, lots of cars have them without flares

that's if you like the look of them :?
