Hi Marcus,

Hope you enjoy your time here and don't be afraid to ask questions. Long live the 998!

Cheers, Nick

OK, well enough of being slack and due to a bit of nudging by Simon (Austin850) I'd better stop just perving on this site and introduce myself.
Syd here.
My first car was a mini (back around '93) - It was a '63 997 Cooper - Not a bad first mini hey  Had a fair bit of fun with that but never really wanted to do anything to compeditive with it due to it being a rare one so I managed to pick up a free clubman 'The Rattler' - name due to a big end nock (but it never died!) - this was good for a bit of forest fun, but I ended up replacing that with an 850 shell that I did up for rallying - That one went pretty well (worked 1275) although the rallying career didn't last to long (did it Simon...)
Eventually stripped the rally 850 to rebuild but then got distracted with other things in life for awhile - Sold the Cooper.
Earlier this year I came across a "Taylorspeed Jem" for sale and couldn't resist buying it so I have the mini bug back again and am preparing it for Historic racing (Class SB). Can't wait to get it on the road (main thing holding me back at the moment is trying to get a windscreen for it over in the UK). Other than that it only needs minor bits done.

the 850 was a genuine 1 owner of a family friend, sorry to say it was very run down when i got it! thankfully some of its bits have come in handy on my new project! still have the motor too! will have to try and locate some photos and a scanner! lol The ute was funny, the only problem was i am 6ft3 and the mini was cut behind the b piller so the seat was all the way foward, was a bit hard for me to sit in it!! ws going to cut the roof off it and turn it into a summernats cruiser, but it never hapened!
