in regards to the hydraulics....have you checked up on the legality of them? i didnt think you could use em legally in australia, only airbags...could be completely wrong though as it was just from word of mouth no substantial evidence. dont wanna stir up an argument, just curious, could be a cool mod :)

From what I've heard their legal as long as the car still has shocks and they car'nt be adjusted while driving.
Again word of mouth and I could be wrong, but if you know for sure let us know.

or... if you time it right, you could get a runup, and extend the hydraulics on approach and actually jump them... the landing mightn't be good for the IC tho

I had thought about it though...
And the engineer i spoke to said it should be ok, as i am retaining the origional suspension setup. Except for the metal cones which will be replaced by a hydraulic ram, thus keeping the same sort of ride. Ohh and yeah it cant be controlled from inside the car

hey gordo,
Are you leaving your fuel tank in the old spot or moving it?
If the same spot do you think having the exhaust underneath the fuel tank is ok and what are you doing about the extra heat on the fuel tank? This might not be an issue at all but I was curious and don't know the answer

If moving where to?

I was going to cross that bridge when i came to it.... I am going to get a fual tank made up to suit it, with return lines and an internal pump, so im not exactly sure where it is going to sit just yet but more or less in the same spot and maby like the drop tank style of look in the SLR 5000 not sure about that yet though

Hey Gordo,
Cool, thanks for letting me know.

Do you think the heat from your exhaust would be a problem for a normal fuel tank?
The drop tanks on the torana's look pretty tuff but might make your hydraulics
a bit pointless :)

The exhaust might make a bit of a heat problem, but in saying that i saw a new hilux ute the other day without the back on it and it only has a really thin sheet of alluminium as a heat shield, same as the heat shield on a set of exhaust headers
