To all Mini Car Club Members, people that attended Gannons Park and those that entered the show n shine.

Walking away from a big day yesterday, I thought it was fantastic the number of Minis that made the trip out to Gannons Park to support the Mini Car Club of NSW.

Many people entered their car (or trailer) into the Show N Shine, even though they knew that they wouldnt win, just to support the car club.

I was posed with the question yesterday "what do I get for my $40 for joining the car club".

People in society tend to want something tangiable for their money all the time. For those that pay their yearly membership and realise that you get membership into one of the biggest car clubs in the country, that hosts a massive range of car shows, events and motor sport for a relatively small amount of $40 a year (Including a monthly magazine) thats great.

If you have come to many of the Ausmini events lately, that were posted in the cruise and events section - many of these were Mini Car Club events (across all states).

The car club has a massive base of volunteers that assist in running these events. You will often not notice them.

To me the $40 I pay per year to the Club, is as much to just merely support the organisation that helps keep the mini community alive, as it is to pay my part back to the club for all the fantastic events it has put on throughout the year.

The Mini Car Clubs across all the states of Australia, are non-profit organisations. The Money that you put in, comes straight back out to you in some form.

Its fantastic that Ausmini is here to help assist the Mini community in thriving, and I hope that the relationship between the two continue to remain strong.

Thanks again to everyone that turned out yesterday, be you a car club member or not. It was fantastic to see you there. It made all the hardwork worth it.

Chris

PS. This is not a dig at non members. Many of you have supported clubs before, and help out the community in other ways. This post was more to address the legitamte question from people as to what their membership cost goes to.

Well said Chris :D

I had a great day yesterday. I love having a chat with all my Mini friends and I got to meet some new ones as well (Jim & Shane). And of course all the beautiful Minis were fantastic :P

I joined the MCC in 1990 so I could meet some like minded people and to go motor racing with my Clubman. Not only did I get to go racing many times I also meet many life long friends.

It's great that the Club has a healthy membership and many volunteers who give a lot of their time to make sure that the members are well catered for. Everyone joins the club for various reasons (motorsport, social, Mini knowledge etc) and I think the committee doea a great job of offering a wide variety of activities.
I know of one life member in the club who have never owned a Mini, yet he's been an active member (on and off committee) for 25 plus years.

It's great to see a wide section of the Mini community supporting days like Gannons Pk. Well done everyone - especially to you Chris. You always put in a lot of effort in at any club events, your enthusiasm is infectious :D
