If you are braking or accelerating in the wet though, the narrower it is the better. More weight per square inch to squeegee the water out.
One reason Falken FK07Es (165/70-10) are NBG in the wet is their width- once they get a bit worn, the water can't get out of the shallow grooves quick enough. :x

i thought the most important thing in the wet is the compound, followed by the tread pattern, the falkens have a nice tread pattern, but a low grip hard compound

anyway i found falkens to be bad in the wet :)
maybe a fresh set would do better though.

I have looked at ALL those lovely, expensive tyres but it still hasn't answered my question about the Falken 06G 165/60x12...

Has anyone used that particular tyre???

yeah, I've used them on my van and on my cooper... never had a problem with them... good life, rode fine... made out of black stuff with grooves in it

but I never really had a problem with 10" falkens either, so maybe I'm not enough of a hoon to qualify for judging what's good and bad in a tyre

(though anyone who knows me ought to know otherwise!!)

yeah i've used falkens in 10" and 12"

they were both pretty bad on the limit, breaking away suddenly without warning, and bad in the wet

i prefer the bridgestone sf226 to the falkens in 10"

i popped some 539's on in 12" and it felt a million times better than the falkens.

i cant recommend them unless you do no spirited driving and want your tyres to last forever

Problem is finding good 165/60x12 size tyres now like the A539's in Oz.

A friend of mine owns an independent tyre business and he cannot even find anything else but the Falkens unless one goes for the semi race type tyre...

The price I got quoted for the Falken 06G 165/60x12 was $105.00/tyre..

The Yoko A539's cost me $125.00/tyre about 18 months ago..

Well that's alright I reckon, cheaper than any of the shops I tried, some even offered them (the Falken's) to me for around $130 a corner. :x

I paid about $115 a corner for the 165/70/R10 Dunlop Formula R's and a tad bit more for the Falken's, maybe they've gone down in price? :?
