Just asked him - the company he used to ship it was Australian Van Lines... a bit hazy on that one... they might not even be in business any longer.

The biggest hassle wasnt shipping it, but insuring it. Found out the best way to insure it was to find a residing citizen of UK to insure it under their name.

It is also a requirement to put an "AUS" badge on the rear of the vehicle.

An Internation License is also helpful, and the booklet you receive when you get one contains a lot of information regarding driving your car overseas.

I read a story in Restored Cars magazine a while back, it was a bloke taking a Jowett to England for a car meeting. He had major problems getting everything approved to do it. It took a heck of a lot of paperwork and lots of drama. He wrote the story to help others thinking of doing the same thing.
I will try to dig out the story for you.

i can do better than that... that "bloke" would be my Dad.. want any more information? Most pleased to be of assistance.
Well, that saves me from looking through the magazines!
It was quite an adventure. I think that we all need to do something a little crazy and out of the ordinary from time to time but it was a fantastic thing that your dad did to take a car to England the way he did. :D

well it was 50th anniversary of the Jowett Jupiter winning its class at Le Mans, so it was quite an important event.. so yeh not only did he take his car to the UK, but also drove it over to France, and did a lap of Le Mans.
