No, you can't be made to fit vented discs.

im going to buy some new pistons and rings (and then have to get them dished) then get a new 2 core superflow, 12g295 head and get ben's help in making up the manifolds and get an re grind done on the cam...

i've got so far:
hif44 turbo carb,
2 turbo manifolds (ill sell one off)
original metro turbo plenum (but ill buy one of nics plenums off turbominis)
new hypatec pistons and hepolite rings
t2 turbo
fuel regulator

still need:
fuel pump
12g295 head
radiator
intercooler + piping
bov + boost controller

why not make it a 1098 while you're there? :)

jusy use the 7.5" disk setup. Personally i would like a bit more, but 7.5 is legal 8)

well the engine is a 998 block bored .060" 1,100 crank 1110 rods and head
so it is about 1098 atm
doesn't drive like it though!

hows ye olde starlet going josh?

Nothing wrong with Cooper S discs, they were good enough to win the Monte Carlo rally, and 1966 Bathurst...

I run them on the 1360, and never had brake fade around Wakefield Pk with Greenstuff pads.

Not much else fits in 10s, legally.

excellent!
well cooper s discs it is! i just didnt want to buy the setup without checking because if i needed vented rotors and calipers to suit it'd be an extra 400 pounds!

Cooper S brakes fit practically any 10" wheel. This cannot be said for most of the aftermaket 4 pots and vented rotors.

Tom is the crank undersize? the 1098 crank is the weakest one of the lot u would want a really good crank for this project.

if it's +.060" with a 1098 crank, it's 1152cc.
You want a crank no more than .010" undersize, with good radii on all the journals and NO cracks.

Hmmm, another Turbo in Sydney... I like :D

There is debate about how much power you can get with a 998 Turbo vs a 998 Turbo.
I am going the 998 route... it will make as much power as 1100's ... just need to make sure its got the torque.

Is the T2 standard or Hi-Flowed?

What power you expecting?

From what I can work out, with a strong crank the biggest worry (apart from head gasket) is the pistons.

I know a certain 1152 Turbo with Hypatecs holding together extremely well... I think I'll go a different route though.

Pete.

Don't know what the rules are now but it used to be dual circuit (in NSW) brakes and two speed wiper motor. This meant late model master cylinder and lines but check with your engineer what the rules are currently.

Brake size is up to you, I have stocko discs with 150+hp and Mintex 1144 (I think). It's pretty scary after being in a modern car as it feels like there is nothing, once I get used to it I like it better. Make sure you bleed the entire brake fluid out often, I found issues running with old fluid in the lines.

For the engine build, don't go too fancy, you will break things. I would port out a 12G202 rather than use a 12G295. Also run a megajolt or similar ignition system, this will save your motor. Intercooler is now mandatory, I will throw a snickers bar at you if you don't run one

Daniel

alas i know nothing of cranks would anyone suggest a good strong crank to use for the project?

also im going to run 1100 040 hypatec pistons should i get them dished to lower the compression? i was looking at running between 6-10psi...

also still trying to decide whether to run a megajolt setup or get one of the 123 distributors and put it on the predefined metro turbo setting...

the turbo is a standard t2 alas not hi-flowed but what im really looking for is a decent daily driver with some useable power just a nice road car and i wasn't prepared to go the full conversion route yet...

benjamin has kindly offered to fabricate the manifolds/dump pipe for me.. just need to get the rest of the bits sorted!
