On engines with a tappet chest plate cover with a breather pipe is it possible/ advisable to replace the cover with one without the breather pipe. I have cut the pipe short before the "U" bend and attached a small air filter.
What would happen to the px if I was to either block it off or exchange it for a different plate. ??
Cheers
Matt

A series need breathers of some sort, there's a lot of wind generated in there.
Personally I think if you are putting a Bling! filter on it or running into a catch tank, a breather/cover off a Cooper S or a late Clubby 998 is the go, it has an oil separator/flame trap on it.

If not enough breathing, you will get leaks at the dipstick or various oil seals.
