Not sure which section to post this in really....

I have nearly convince myself to go pick up the Mini in person once its done. Plan would be fly down on a Thursday and drive back to the Central Coast over 3 days (Thi, Fri & Sat.) via Canberra.

The distance doesnt bother me, and I'm not too worried about break downs as I dont really expect any. Will take the important tools and buy an extinguisher, coolant and oil when I hit SA though.

My question relates to getting from Brickworx (Edwardstown) to Canberra. I ill not do this trip in a day, I really only want to drive 5-6 hours a day MAX. That way I can break it up, 3 hours in the morning and have a lunch brake and then keep driving.

I have never been to SA, so I dont know what the roads are like. What is the most Mini friendly route from SA to Canberra ?

What is the best place to stay in between SA and canberra to break the trip up into two days ?

Is the whereis estimate of 12-13 hours from Edwardstown to Canberra realistic ?

Canberra to Sydney is fine, easiest drive ever.

I will be investing in a GPS before I go.

stay in a tent or the back of the car,

i went down to wagga a few months ago and where is said 4 hours, i left at 8 missed traffic, went 120k's on some parts and still only got there at 1:30, so i would add 20%, also buy a 20ltr jerry can for fuel and another 10ltr for water,

Matt (ss wanab) kows the way pretty well.

The roads are pretty tame over there, from what I saw, nothing like sydney, it should be pretty easy for you.

Adelaide-Pinnaroo- Ouyen-Balranald-Hay-Narrandera-
Wagga-Yass-Canberra-Yass-Goulburn-Sydney.
I think that's right
that is the quickest way. approx 1400kms(+200kms for canberra), takes around 16 hours without the canberra stop off.

It's a easy trip if you do Adelaide to Hay on the first day, Hay to home on the 2nd, Hay is about half way between the 2 cities, we do Sydney to Hay in just over 7 hours towing so its not a hard trip. The Cobb inlander is a nice place to stay in Hay, turn left at the roundabout, over the bridge about 500 metres down on the right.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

That way is okay but isnt very well sign posted. If you know the way that way is good or if you have a good map. It is about an hour or so quicker though.

If you go through the riverland and via Mildura it is abit more scenic and very well sign posted.

Adelaide to Hay is easily done in a day, I have done it both ways in a mini and from Sydney to Hay via Yass and got pretty close to Canberra. I left Bexley in Sydney at lunchtime and got into Hay around 9ish from memory.

Enjoy the drive, it is nice to do a big trip especially in a mini.

Matt

If you would bring me some stuff up from brickworx you could stay at my place in Leeton (about 20min from Narrandera).

Alright you don't have to bring any bits.
