Just finishing the last few thigs on the car, and want it to be ready to go. My headlights are bright but on revs get brighter, am running generator set up, is this what should happen or should I change the generator out?

Thats normal with a generator, unlike an alternator that produces 14 volts at idle.

It does it on mine, not really noticable unless you are concentrating on it though. If its a big difference then you will probably have somthing to worry about.

It is pretty normal for the lights to brighten up when you rev a Mini engine up with a generator system as Generators do not charge at Idle speed. It is nothing to worry about unless you drive at ide speed !! Even with an alternator you see this effect as the alternator output rises at above Idle speed. The Charge lamp goes out and stays out at Idle on Alternator systems but that does not mean the Alternator is charging if the engine is idling and the light is out. The warning lamp on Alternator systems will go out as soon as Alternator output reaches Battery Voltage.

Cool, thanks guys will leave it for now then, have always wanted to have a go at reconditioning one though, i will wait till it packs it in :)
