Well I've decided its about time to put my mini's story up here:
I bought my 1977 leyland panel van on 31st of September 2003 from David Seery (a cartoonist bloke who happened to illustrate the Vic mini show programme - in 2002 I think.)
He had put on the 12" super lights and cooper s disks in the hope of installing a 1275, but when I got it, it still had the standard 998. The paint was as it is today.
I tidied up the interior a bit - new carpet, dash and door cards etc and drove it around for a while. When I got sick of hills and the 998, I put in a warm 1098 that I had from a previous mini. This was played with as funds allowed (I was a uni student)
The details are:
12g295 head
+40 thou bore
Camtech 619 cam
HIF44 SU on mini spares alloy manifold
LCB with 1.75" exhaust
modified pulsar dissy
thermo fan
oil cooler
rear sway bar
Believe me its been fun. and I love it, but a move to Kalgoorlie (from melbourne) has presented me with a company car, decent pay increase, and most importantly a big shed. This, the deteriorating engine condition and the quest for more power has tempted me to take the car off the road for a full tart up.
Plans include:
4EFTE conversion
Metro turbo brakes
adjustable suspension
new seats
a bit of a tidy up of body and paint
anything else that comes up along the way.
More pics to follow if I can get them off my camera.
