some times a little red flashing led light helps (impression of alarm), my mini never got broken into while i owned it, and i left it in heaps of dodgy spots, sorry to hear about your mini being broken into, did you leave anything in it to entice somebody to get into it?

Don't leave anything of value in the car and leave it unlocked.
Less damage in the long run.

There is not a lot that can be done with the original locks and latches. There are a couple of tricks like sliding bolts hidden in the door frames that can be triggered by solenoids or cables.

You could fit electronic locking solenoids in the rear side bins, to shoot pins through the B pillars and rear of both doors.
One ausmini member in Sydney has done this.

Sucks to hear your mini got broken into. unfortunately if d**kheads wanna get into a car they will find away. but on the otherhand there are a few things you can do to ummm "scare" them away or make it look like its more hassle than its worth.

1) a alarm system
2) a cut off switch (great little item to have)
3) a steering wheel lock (more for show)
4) if you have a newish cd player make sure you can at least detach the face

Ummm thats all i can think of atm

Cheers

you cant stop someone getting into your mini craig, you gotta park it in a garage or something, and an alarm is only good if it scares them off before they steal anything.

pm me if you want to know why changing the locks will make no difference, as i dont want to give tips to would be thieves on a public forum.

Whats the point of changing the locks? The 1/4 window can be punched out in about three seconds flat anyway. :?

Best thing to do is NOT have anything on show. ie Standard looking dash, no subs/speakers/cd's/cool gauges/seats..

Or. . . Just park it in the shed at night and don't leave it anywhere dodgy

My favorite security mechanism was one I saw in South Africa. A bumper sticker with "Warning Baboon Spider inside"

Now that would make me think twice.

If I read right you have one of the last Mini K's with the Clubman style doors?

I remember someone on here fitting Solex locks intrended for a Laser? That would slow a thief down.

Cheers,
