Paint the other side of the gasket with Permatex No3.

No leaks and you can easliy remove the cover to check the rocker clearances.


I know I am a bit late on this one.

I always found it beneficial to silicone the gasket to the head. That way you can remove the cover and the gasket stays in place making refitting easy and stops jagging and breaking the gasket on the rocker arms when removing the cover. It also helps stop any pools of oil from leaking down the the engine when the cover is taken off, acts like a little dam wall. You can reuse the gasket many times.
