Will you offer trailer service

A mini place open on week-end and drivable from Geelong is definitaly lacking.

If you open, let me know, i will be your first customer

If you're willing to take the risk, then go for it - but you need a plan to get your name out there to as many Mini people as possible. Hard if you don't register as a business - not even VMCI will let you advertise if you're not a registered business - but if you're going to run as a "branch" of another business then that should be OK.

Parts is a hard business - you have to hold the stock and wait for people to need them - Murphy says that you stock 2 of something for 12 months then you'll need 3 on the same day

BTW - 20 minutes from Sunbury? - you weren't driving a Mini via Wildwood were you ... 8) 8) 8)

I would definately support a western suburbs mechanic, ( When needed of course), parts, repairs and advice, and I have several friends that would support also. Werribee is a good central location, 20 minutes from everywhere.

:D Fair comment VicMini13.........No i wasnt driving a mini via wildwood.

Sorry Davo111 it will happen in the location i have at the moment but if the demand and the customer base is greater there as well as having the funds (but that will cause a $ increase :( on everything due to w/shop rental, etc...)we may consider it in the future.....id only be 15-20 minsish from hoppers anyways.

Trailer service....... maybe in the future. :)

Ballistic, whatever you do, wherever you do it, make sure you've got a sound business plan. Don't go committing yourself to big $$ setting up a business (and don't fool yourself into thinking it won't cost big $$) unless your plan supports it. Don't do anything without an exit strategy either -- know how you're going to get out of the business when the time comes.

Don't take a couple of posts on a website as demand for a new workshop. Get feedback and gauge demand from as many Mini clubs and organisations as possible all over town, and even further afield. You may well find yourself doing as much trade in parts over the Internet, as you have in-person customers using your workshop.

Having said all that, if you provide great customer service, keep your costs low and prices competitive, do what you say you'll do WHEN you say you'll do it, you're already ahead of many places and will probably do well.

Good luck ;)

:D Thanks for the support sgc, its good to hear! :D
The one thing i have over most of the "other mini places' is Youth......so want this to continue for a long time.
Plus this will be a branch of another business more than a "go it alone" business and when the "owner" has had enough i hope to be established enough to continue on my own (so to speak) and keep the :D good name going.
i also know a few other people who "play" minis that are not on this forum and dont like the fact that they have to travel to s#!t creek to get thier parts etc...as they dont want to deal with a "grumpy, $ hungry b@rst@rd" who knows very little about these cars except trying to screw everyone who walks through the door
I also dont want to go back and work for someone else in thier workshop on vehicles i have no "passion" or get no "enjoyment" working on or talking about.
When i am completely set up you guys will be the first to know!! 8)
 ok maybe 2nd but your right up there!! (bad humour, i know but im very trying  just ask my wife!!
