With all this confusion with ignition systems it now appears quite obvious.
1 Fit high pressure mechanical fuel injection

Instant A series diesel

And about a whole 16HP, if I remember the BMC diesel Mini tractor specs... 8)

ive still got the pulsar dissy 1310/71 sold me, in a week or 2 i should have my car on the road and have the lucas dissy connected , so maybe i will drive on the standard dissy for a week and then the pulsar, dont know the condition of either, nor do either of them have vac/advance. so i will post up the results and my thoughts on this one

Buz, you've got the HONDA dizzy I took off - simply because I liked the idea of having the ignitor internal and less wiring outside. It was working perfectly in the car then. However, I have to say; all this discussion about advance curves and modifying pulsar dizzy's came up afterwards. I don't recall anyone considering it to be a problem with the honda one, but best check with GR. The vacuum advance on it was disconnected and isolated, so it only has mechanical advance.

I have nothing to add, just wanted to thank who ever put two-and-two together to invent the Pulsar dizzy mod.

There is a large cup of coffee and some timtams here waiting for you as a reward if you ever cared to come by.

Don't thank me- :!:
Kudos to Chichm, (Marcel Chichak, in Canada) he was the first to do it. He's also the brains behind the 123 dizzy.

His website is http://www.starchak.ca/
enjoy!

I have been perusing the Search Function ( thanks Mick for making it work again 8) ) for imfo on 123 Distributors as i have just bought one for my car; and i have come across plenty of interesting comments, and one thing i've always wondered was, " who was the person that worked out that a Nissan Pulsar Dizzy would fit in a mini engine ? , and here it is !, i'll check out his website later .

As it stands , i have a DR85 Pulsar Dizzy , machined body , and modded by GR , but i've not fitted it since GR done the mod , but i just scored a brand new 123 Dizzy off Ebay ( for a really good price ) , so i am now doing some homework to find my starting point for a curve figure so that i can install it & then fit the 1-1/2"" carbies that i've had here for some time ( time to get off my ar$e Mick, i know ) .

I had a chuckle when i read your above post Mick , now considering where you are at with the ignition system in your car currently  .

I like what SGC says about 123 dizzy's , does this thinking still apply?, personally i have always liked the look and write-up on them , but like most years ago , thought they were too expensive.

I liked the idea of Marcel's 123 dizzy years ago when it came out, however now I've programmed an Accuspark Stealth black box like Mick's, I like this concept more.
You can simply put it on a dyno and adjust the advance of the set points in the curve to get max torque figures. This way you can get it perfectly suited to your engine.

The 123 dizzy has a whole bunch of pre-programmed curves in it, however you cannot mod them if you need to. And you need to pull the dizzy out to change the curve selected.
IMO on modified engines you would be dead lucky to find a curve that is perfect.

Its a brilliant way of getting a good distributor onto your car for very little money....as context in the days before inexpensive, reliable high output ignition modules came onto the market...

Doc , i know when i first got my Pulsar Dizzy , i put it in, and was impressed with the way the engine revved , and how smooth it was , even though it was only basically set up . I then sent it to GR for the mod that he done on them but i never got around to putting it back in .

When this 123 came up , i was lucky enough to win the auction and i was more than happy with the price,
so it will be interesting to see how it performs . I do like the look of them , hopefully they perform as good as they look , time will tell .
