I would just like to clarify what oil I am meant to be using for the Matic...

And does anybody know what part number the oil filter is for it?.. as in that canister like one?

Hi,

I use Castrol GTX 20W50 (NOT GTX2!). You want 20W50 only and no fancy modern sythetics or types with detergents and additives, as they are not healthy for the Auto.

The Mini-Matic, Mini A+ and Metro Auto filter (long skinny one) is available from Karcraft via mail order/ This is the cheapest solution. It can also be orderd from your local Bursons or Auto One etc as Baldwin P174 (suits a Massey Ferguson Tractor).

If you have an 1100S Auto or 1300 Auto engine (short fat filter) it has a different filter housing to a Mini and as far as I am aware the filter is NLA. But I have heard there is a cross reference to a tractor for that one as well.

Cheers,

No, it's actually pretty oil tight. A sight seep from the diff housing is the only leak. (I should not have said that, it will probably leak like the Exxon Valdez now!)

It's a 1275 A+ engine (in my Moke) and its only done about 1000kms since the bands were done and all the seals/gaskets were replaced. :)

Cheers,

Yeah I am very busy at the moment, - havent had much of a chance to read through very much on ausmini!

Matic - Named George. He was initially bought for my dear mother, (oh alright. my dear mother bought it) but she didn't like not having a drivers side rear view mirror.. so I'm trying to source an appropriate one to her tastes....And about 3 months old i'd say ?

Um.. thats about it :)

I thought the better oil to use in a matic was 10w40?
Keep it thin cause of all the extra stuff it has to do?
:D

I was told by the two guys down here that have run matics for years and helped me a LOT with my matic to always use low-detergent 20W50, never anything else.

Dr Mini has run matics and I think he agreed with that too? :?
