I had my old moke to about 140kph once, on a big long downhill. Its not so pleasurable when your eyelids start flapping. The current one will do 120 on the flat (after a while). I don't have problems with the roof flapping, I take it off.

A couple of weeks ago I was driving the Moke and I had a strong headwind. I was struggling to get up to 90 and I thought there was something wrong with the car!

Crusing home six hours later with no wind at all and I could hit 120 easy. :)

C'mon , the full Japanese aero package and a 4EFTE would be a very nice little package .

The roof makes a big difference too, especially in a headwind. They're faster and get better fuel economy with the top and sides on. They're even blunter with it off.

Seriously, 80MPH would be about it I reckon, whether 100 or 200HP... so why bother.:

I've had my Moke (supercharged 1275) at just over 140 km/h (~90 mph). Aerodynamics had really kicked in though - she didn't really have anything more to give.

And yes, the above was with the roof up (it does enable you to attain higher top speeds).

Yeah, but who wants to drive with the roof off on a hot summers day. No fun!

At least sitting on 90 the overtaking gawkers got a good look.

Interesting that everyone sticks to the whole "top speed" factor....

What about reliability, 0-60km/h times, cornering ability, keepig up with traffic, etc etc (not that a moke already doesnt have or do this, but I am just saying...)

There was a moke at one of the Motorkhana days that had the front windscreen re-welded on at an angle. The one that was at that show at Penrith (does anyone have pics of that beast..??) last year had the windscreen tilted and then supported by a modified roll cage...

I'm 30 and going by the rate I do anything with my cars will probably be 50 and putting an electric engine in the poor thing, but I just wondered why there were so few converted mokes...

p.s that Jap thing is HIDEOUS
p.p.s that green race moke is my new *druels* car...!!

That was my defence when I got kicked out of schoolies last year!

Doc - I thought of you however I thought I'd claim the eldest statesman award by qualifying it with those currently being driven around. :)

If the thing was finished (or at least engine in and running with only body and cosmetic stuff to be done) I would buy it in a flash.

:D

I cant have uncomplete cars at my place till I buy a house. Not the easiest thing buying a house I can tell you...
