Dont think it ever was monster, always a roundy. Clubman estate was the only square front i seen in the Uk. Early commercials i think had the built in grill too.

someone just wrote one off, seeing that half the roof is dented and the front section of a sedan mini should fit the roof, :roll:

Well come on Buz, spill the beans!

Hey Im just wondering what year the first mini pickup was made and what year did they cease making them...how many where made at a rough estimate.

In January 1960, the van is introduced, costing £360.
In February 1961, the pick-up is introduced.
May 1983: end of production for both.

Total vans-production: 521.005
Total pick-up production:: 58,179

Conversions maybe, but not original ones I guess. Not just to please the army :wink: .

Mine's an Austin, otherwise I would :lol: .

Does anyone know if the pickup was made with the square front(clubby) end at all in the uk.

That's correct. Some had a nosejob afterwards but it's not an original feature.

All vans and pick-ups had the built in grill, upto the end.

Thanks for sending me the link to this topic, sports850 !

I'm still surprised there were only 58,179 pick-ups produced , no wonder they are so rare .

By the way , does the figure for the total van's produced include our's made here or only in the UK ?

From memory i belive John Smidt bought 5 genuine pick up/ute bodies into the country in the mid to late 1980's i think Rocky Canto had one & i know that Peter Jenning's still has his immaculant yellow ute.

Here's Dean Canto's, it's had a nose job and an Elder 8 port head with EFI added. 1360 or 1380cc I think.
